Dear Audi Club Members,
My name is Lindsay Rule and I am contacting you to tell you about an exciting event taking place in the next few weeks. At the beginning of 2011, in an active effort to shape the transition to a new era of mobility, Audi announced the Audi Urban Future Initiative. This initiative looks towards the future with the aim of establishing a dialogue on the synergy of mobility, architecture and urban development. Rooted in the belief that today’s mobility challenges can only be solved in a collective and interdisciplinary context, it represents an essential part of the Audi brand's commitment to urban mobility as a whole and is designed to change both thought patterns and corporate culture.
This year, Audi has selected six architecture firms from around the world to investigate mobility by asking questions such as “How will the boundaries of a city be defined in the future – especially in a rapidly growing metropolis? What might a transformation towards sustainable mobility in cities look like?”. One of these teams, Höweler+Yoon of Boston, is looking into how the idea of the 'American Dream' has changed in light of the rapid growth of cities and their populations, and in addition to this, how mobility and transportation methods have changed across different regions of the United States. In an effort to promote the work of Audi's Urban Future Initiative and the work of Howeler+Yoon, Audi has commissioned Architizer, the online network dedicated to architects and designers, to send a blogger (me) across the country, from Boston to San Francisco in 14 days to document different types of transportation available to the average American.
Since this is a promotional piece, the teams from Audi and Architizer would love to showcase a few members from the Audi Club and their cars. We are looking for members that have Audi classics, any models that are vintage or stand out in a special way. We are looking for anyone who is available the first week of August to meet, answer a few questions about their involvement with the Audi club and how they became interested in the Audi brand, and also take me for a short drive in the vehicle. If you have an interest in being involved please send your contact information, times of availability, and the model and year of your Audi to:
rulel@design.upenn.edu Thank you for your involvement and I look forward to meeting fellow Audi fans!
Sincerely,
Lindsay L. Rule
