I normally do my own work, but I'm running short on time before I move cross-country, and I need to have one or both front wheel bearings replaced on my 200 20v before leaving Seattle. I'm going to look into having a local shop do the work (any recommendations?). I'm wondering if anyone knows or can look up the book time to replace- one, and- both front wheel bearings. I have a friend with a lift and a hydraulic press, and I have the parts already, but our schedules don't line up any day before it's time for me to leave town.

Whoa, I never noticed that people responded to this thread. I ended up doing the job with the help of my buddy Derek in Seattle. He had a press and other essential tools. It took maybe 4-5 hours, with two pairs of hands, two pairs of eyes, and one six pack of beers, but we weren't rushing. Quote: I had no clue that the C4 A6's were still Type 44... The wheel bearing replacement job is pretty much identical between the T44 and C4, especially since my car has G60 brakes, but C4 is very different than T44 in other ways.

hub shark would help out with this on a T44 or T4A (aka the 100/A6), or even an early T89 before they became a T8A.

Note to self... buy hub shark. those things work pretty slick. That would be nice for the exploders too.

$350-ish. I have one, made doing the A4's pretty easy. Takes a beefy air source and impact though.
