Like the title says, 1990 Volkswagen Jetta GLI, 2.0 16v. The car is a somewhat unique combination. The "small bumper" cars were made until the end of production year 1989. This car was built in the second half of 1989, making it a 1990 model year car, the last of the "small bumper" cars. For model year 1990, VW started putting the 2.0 16v engines in instead of the 1.8 16v. So this car is a half of a year combo of the factory small bumper, 2.0 16v.

The car has 128k miles on it, and when I bought the car is was completely stock (which is again rare to find these days), and unmolested. Since buying the car, I was forced to replace the head gasket as the gasket had failed. While replacing the head gasket, I had the cylinder head machined, installed new valve guide seals, and ground and re-lapped the valves. I also replaced the water pump and housing, t-stat, coolant hoses, reservoir, timing belt and tensioners, v-belts, oil cooler, had the CIS injectors cleaned and tested, and I am probably forgetting a couple other things. I also did a general tune up with new plugs, cap and rotor, and air filter. The car runs fantastic, pulls strong, and gets pretty good gas mileage.

I like to think that the modifications that I have done on the car are tasteful, and I also kept all the original parts that I replaced. I put E-code smoked headlights w/city lights, crystal smoked taillights, smoked side marker lights, momo steering wheel, and installed an H&R touring cup kit, lowering the car about an inch and a half or so. The car rides very nice, and I am very pleased with the suspension setup.

The car came with some factory VW 14" wheels that weren't correct for the car, and I found and put on some of the factory BBS RA 15" wheels. Both sets come with the car, as can a set of somewhat beat up Borbet 16" wheels that I have from another car. I am selling the car because I have too many of them, and I have no place to store all of my cars anymore. I have become more of an Audi person recently and have just outgrown the Jetta.

I am asking $3250, obo, and am somewhat motivated to sell the car. It is definitely going, I just have to find the right home for it! ALL of the wiring on this car is in good shape! It has not been screwed with, cut up, or destroyed at all. The side bolsters on the Recaro seats are in pretty good shape, and the dash is also in good shape. The body of the car is overall pretty good. There is one fender that has a small dent in it next to the headlight, and the drivers rear door has had a repair done to it, and has been painted white, but doesn't really match the car. Ha, your GLI is almost identicle to mine...small bumper 90 GLI 2.0 16v, white, manual windows and mirrors. I dont have the nice headlights and tails, but it is lowered and i have the original RA's, but now its riding on 17" ASA AR1's. Sure its a girly car, but its a ton of fun to drive hard and gets great fuel mileage. Best of luck with the sale. I'm sure you will miss her when shes gone.

Thanks guys! I would keep the car, but I think that I upgraded a little bit with my S6! I actually had always wanted a 16v, and I have had it for like a year or so, but the 20v turbo is a little more fun!

That is a custom speaker box that actually came out of a Porsche 911.
