Ok, sounds like we have a date settled on. June 30th it is. Mike, I will call you tomorrow evening so we can start discussing the details.

Got my BBK in the mail the other day. Couldn't resist bolting up the calipers and see how they look. Correct Rotors on are on the way from AutohauseAZ.

And before anyone points it out...I know this is the right caliper. I already had the left wheel off and thats the caliper that was closest :D

Got around to installing the big brakes. derracuda sent down some brake line adaptors from 4kq brake master cylinders that are banjo style so I could screw those onto my existing brake lines and then bolt the banjo adaptor onto the calipers. It works but the brake lines are a little short, so eventually I need to have the proper length lines made up with the correct banjo end on one end of them.

Went from this...

to this...

and finally to this...

And boy oh boy do these work better than the A4 brakes that they replaced. The pedal is now up higher, is rock solid, and they grab probably twice as good as the A4 brakes did. I think the main reason the A4 brakes sucked so bad was the pads. I ran the cheapo pads that were in the calipers when i plucked em from pick n pull because they were brand new, but i'm sure they were some really cheap life time warrantied pad from napa or wherever so they just didnt grab very well. I looked into getting some good pads but then this brake kit popped up and i couldnt resist. They also came with a set of Porterfield Race Pads for track days.

I'm also thinkin I need to get some high temp porsche decals for the calipers because race car.

Thanks. I could have gone with standard rotors for half the price(D2 A8) but i've never had drilled rotors on a car so I figured this would be the car to have them on. Thery arent needed but just look much cooler IMHO. Just maybe i'll let you taker her for a rip.

Looks nice! 8-) What rotors are those? Redrilled D2 A8's?

Thanks Jim. Now I can say I have parts from two famous Audi's on my car. Now if only I could get something from James Buffkin's car, like a lightbulb or a random bolt.

PRA4WX, Yeah, they are indeed redrilled D2 A8 rotors. I just went all out and went for the drilled instead of the plain ones.

And once again i'd like to iterate on how well this thing stops now. Its unbelievably better. Now the brakes are a good match for the power and the car hauls down faster when going fast down hill than it used to when going slow up hill and stomping on the brake pedal. That, and now the pedal feels like one should :-) :-) :-) :-) :-)

Next upgrade... the euro lights I got from derracuda about three months ago. Well, maybe right after I add another fan to the radiator.

Ever since this thing has been driving it has had a knocking noise in the suspension that has gotten worse over time. Both front make noise over bumps and now i'm starting to hear it from the right rear too. A little investigating and i think I found the problem/problems.

With the front end off the ground I found that I could grab the strut housing and move it in and out and it there was play between the shock and the housing. Turns out the coil over sleeve was a little too tall and not allowing the nut that holds the shock inside the tube to tighten down all the way and so the shock was actually loose inside the tube. You can see in the pic how there is no gap between the giant nut( goldish color) and the sleeve(anodized red) Both sides are like this, so I will do the same fix on both front sides.
Image

Been rubbing pretty badly...
Image
Image

I cut the section off that had the worn spot on it.
Image

Now the sleeve looks like this
Image

I also found that the castle nut that holds the shock mount to the top of the shock was loose so I tightened that up and put it back together. Now there is plenty of space between the nut and the sleeve and no more play between the shock and the strut housing.
Image

Now to do the driver side. I'll play with the rear later since its not anywhere near as bad as the front.
